Join our email list! Did you know Sad Marvin is now an award-winning band? Our song "With You" won the award for Best Guitars in Alternative Pop Rock @ Garageband.com for the week of Feb 14th! Check it out here and on our upcoming EP, "Acquaintances with Myself". More Sad Marvin press: "I love music like this. It's like hard driving rock with this punk edge. And so many times what can spoil it is there is a weak vocal...but Sad Marvin has it all! You guys sound like a band that has been together forever! I get this feeling like all the members really care about the band and [are] dedicated. I wonder how I will sneak a piece of this music on this country radio station?" -Rachel Lehcar, KAIR-FM "No shit Sherlock, Sad Marvin's CD is bloody good. Nice energy level, never overdone or indulgent! I especially like "With You," "Election" and "Haunted." I will use some of "With You" for a bumper (music intro/outro to commercials during show). -Greg Allen, Nationally syndicated host of "The Right Balance", former songwriter for Diamond Dupree with Ronnie Spector, and 20 year veteran rock critic for the Atlantic City Press. "Originality seems to be a thing of the past, and then comes along a song [Lesser of Two Evils] that puts faith back into a band who is original." -Max Meltdown, Realrockradio.net "The last of the Visiting Scholars of rock series was had at the Abbey lounge last week (2/10/05)- and we were treated to three incredible bands... The surprise hit of the night was Sad Marvin, who packed the house and had people movin." -Pressure Drop Productions "Sad Marvin opens up the night putting the Avalon atmosphere on the right track for a successful night. The powerful singer’s voice and the band’s tightness make the energy of their songwriting overflow onto the audience, totally unprepared to such a catchy beginning, making it jumping around and heating the room up at the right level." -Emergenza Magazine |
News and Info... We like to party, we like, we like to party
How's it hangin'? We know, you haven't heard from us in awhile...we've been neglectful friends and we're sorry about that. Or search for a singer was going well, but it turns out that due to scheduling conflicts, we have to start all over. Not to worry, though. We'll be back with some new lead vox and some happy fun giggity gigs soon enough. On a positive note, our good 'ol boy Greg is nearing a milestone: his 30th birthday. While that may not be considered "over the hill", it's a worthy cause for celebration so we're doing something a little weird, a little funky, a little odd, and hella fun. Come down to O'Neil's at 120 Washington St. in Salem, MA (directions on the website) this Wednesday, 2/28 for the first ever Sad Marvin and Friends Birthstravaganza. We'll be having an open jam with friends and fellow melody makers and a very special guest: you. Bring your voice, your guitar, your bass, your keyboard, your handdrums, your skinflute, and anything else that can make some noise and join us in celebrating Greg's ascent into adulthood. We'll have extra amps and mics and we'll be playing lots of awesome tunes, not just Sad Marvin tunes, but stuff that you'll actually know the words to. ;) So come one, come all, to the Sad Marvin and Friends Birthstravaganza on Weds. 2.28.07 at O'Neils in Salem. 21+, no cover, starts at 8PM Finale v2.0
That's it for now, kids. We're taking the rest of the summer to reflect on life, the universe, and everything. Thank you SO MUCH to everyone that packed the Middle East for our finale with Adam. If you've got some awesome pics from that night, feel free to email them to info@sadmarvin.com or post 'em on our Myspace and such. Finale
Well, the writing has been on the wall for awhile, but now the reality of this dire situation is upon us. We've been in denial, but that's unhealthy, so let's just get it out there and start the long road to recovery together. Adam is moving to Philadelphia. His last show with us (that we know of) will be Friday, August 4th as part of the Skope Magazine Summer Fest at the Middle East Upstairs. You can read all about Adam's reasons for leaving and his thoughts on the situation on our Myspace Page where he's posted a blog. We want to wish Adam the best of luck in his endeavours and let him know that he'll be missed! Send him your love in the form of Myspace comments, emails, and hugs or crotch grabs at the show. Show info: Friday, August 4th The Middle East (up) 480 Mass Ave. Cambridge (Central Sq.) Skope Magazine Summer Fest with: Sad Marvin, Velvet Stylus, Voxhound, Hector on Stilts.
